Happy (late) Easter

Yay for family oriented Easter, lots of kilometers traveled and some crafts too. My husband had to work half of the Easter so I was enjoying scrapbooking (which I haven't done in a looooong time) (yes I'll post those pages I made soon, but not now) The other half of the Easter we spent with family. We had a lovely picnic in the park and I got to meet some more family that I haven't met before. What awesome people.

I also made an Easter bunny for my precious missy, since it was her first Easter.

The tutorial for the bunny is from here, though now that I went to look for it so that I could have put a straight link to it, I couldn't find it. So go figure, hopefully you'll find it.

Emma thought the ears were the best and then when she saw the camera she started heading for that. So technology is for some reason much more interesting than toys. How was your Easter?

An owl and Cleo the cat

For a long time I didn't understand what is the thing about having tags on every side of the toy. I obviously needed my own child to understand how awesome it is. When ever a bought toy would have a tag, it was the tag that was more interesting than the toy. So I wanted to try how it would work if I made a rag with tags on each side.

It worked like magic! Emma was pulling them, tasting them, turning the rag around and looking very carefully on all of those tags. (And by know you're probably wondering where's the rag since the owl blanket doesn't really look like a rag with tags.) I made the owl and I didn't want to make it into a rag so I've saved that for some other project. I just wanted to show you the owl first because I really like it.

But here's the story of the rag: I found so wonderful book for Emma (actually we got it for free from the library because it's a bit broken, our library is the best) and I absolutely love the pictures in it. They are so colourful and bright, plus I like cats. So I wanted to make that cute cat on the rag.

I'd want to post a picture of every page of that book, but I think you'd agree with me from the two pictures above that it's pretty cool. I used old cotton blanket for the rag and I really like the end result.

yes for tan

We've been down under for two months now and many many of my friends and family have been asking if I've got a tan already. Yes it's been super sunny and yes I have a tan, I even took a picture to prove it.

Here are my new shoes (never mind the blurry picture)

And here is the tan

I love the sun but I am so glad it's starting to rain a bit now. Maybe soon I can wear some other shoes too.
And that's all for today. I just wanted to answer some questions and wish you all a great week!

Easter fashion

I have some sort yellow season and all the materials that I've bought have been yellow. Well I wanted Emma to have an Easter dress and I gotta admit that I like the result! And I saved the best picture for last, I think she likes it too. We're ready for Easter!

We love oranges and good books

I have to learn to think outside the box. All this time that we've been in Australia, I've been thinking how it would be great to spend time with Emma outside, but since we don't have grass anywhere at the moment I've thought it to be impossible. Today it hit me. We've got a bit of a veranda (if you want to call that, more like an area where you walk to get in) at the back.. Well it fits our blanket just nicely and us on that.

We had a wonderful morning outside eating oranges (which Emma LOVES at the moment) and reading books and of course standing. These are the first pictures I've got where Emma sits on her own. She usually never wants to sit. I've thought that maybe she doesn't know how to sit yet but that's not true. She was sitting so nicely today as long as there were oranges coming at a constant speed, but as soon as all the pieces were eaten, she was on the move and the direction was up. So in conclusion: she knows how to sit but she prefers moving all the time and trying to get up up up. I think the pictures prove that. (And I so didn't plan on taking any photos when I put that plane shirt with light blue on her. But yes we did think we were having a boy and because daddy likes planes she has some of these rather boyish plane clothes. Oh well I'm not that fussy with these things.)

Heipparallaa

...as someone might say in Finnish. We are settling in and getting a daily routine. I just wanted to come and quickly say hi. So HI!

I love the heat and being warm (though it's starting to get a bit chilly during the nights), but I can't help but miss the winter a little bit when I found these photos on my computer:

Yeah I know that all my friends and family will now go "WHAT" and let me explain to the rest of you. I'm not a winter person. I don't like snow, I don't like being cold. And that's why it was pretty easy time for me to leave the country since it was -28 degrees that morning that we left. But human mind is pretty clever, see I have already forgotten what it feels like to be freezing and no matter how much you wear, you're still cold. So when I look at these pictures it looks so peaceful and nice, almost as if "I'd like to be there".

So there you have it, I admit it, I like snow in pictures and when I'm far away from it. But I feel for those in Finland who are constantly wishing that spring would come already. It's coming! I saw on mtv3.fi that it's coming very soon. So hang in there or come around here.
